    Schedule:

    Full Time and Benefit Eligible

    The hours for this position are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, 10:00 pm to 8:00 am, 7:45 am to 4:15 pm.

    Every other weekend and holiday required.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure care is delivered in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the person(s) and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights.
    • Incorporate the philosophy and the mission statement into delivery of all services.
    • Provide direct support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
    • Promote teamwork and open communication.
    • Foster positive relationships between people supported, guardians, and family members.
    • Empower people supported to make informed decisions in all facets of lives.
    • Facilitate people’s inclusion in the community’s experiences and activities.
    • Promote independence in daily activities, such as work, learning, and leisure.
    • Perform personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, ambulation, and health care related tasks.
    • Administer or supervise self-administration of medication.
    • Monitor general well being of people supported and report observations to appropriate personnel.
    • Performs home management functions, planning, cooking, shopping, etc.
    • Practice and promote active supports with all persons supported.
    • Follow the representative payee guidelines, if applicable.
    • Serve as a human rights advocate.
    • May accompany people to scheduled health care appointments.
    • Ensure people’s safety and maintain a safe environment.
    • Assist with development and support service plans to carry out person’s plans and goals.
    • Maintain documentation in compliance with company procedures.
    • Be familiar with and follow all agency policies and procedures.
    • Complete training requirements in a timely manner as required by NDDHS.
    • Protect and preserve operations by following HIPAA guidelines.
    • Perform therapeutic intervention, CPR, and first aid as needed.
    • Other duties as delegated by the Supervisor.
    • Represent self and organization in a positive, professional manner.

     

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    High school Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.

    CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)

    Completion of provided training.

    Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

    Developmental Disabilities module certification (training provided)

    Flexible and attentive to detail.

    Good organizational skills.

    Strong communication skills.

     

     

    Physical Requirements:

    Strength: Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a person(s), and perform CPR. Ability to lift twenty (20) lbs. Moving, lifting or transferring of person(s) may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) lbs, as well as assist with weights of more than one hundred (100) lbs.

    Mobility: Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop and bend down to the floor, ability to move around rapidly and in small, confined areas.

     

     

    Dress Code:

    In order to promote a positive image and meet special job or safety requirements, the following is expected:

    • Personal hygiene shall be exemplary (clean & well groomed, free of body odor or excessive colognes).
    • All attire shall be appropriate to do job responsibilities. Casual clothing is acceptable. This does NOT include sweats, torn jeans/clothing, lounge pants and clothing with saying related to alcohol or sexual nature, or any saying in poor taste, short shorts and/or spaghetti strap tops, Crop or Capri pants are appropriate for all working environments except outside crews and/or where cleaning chemical could be involved in an accidental spillage. Hats and sunglasses are discouraged while in the building. Sunglasses are not to be worn inside the building unless ordered by a medical professional.
    • More formal business wear is suitable for special meetings. If your duties require less formal attire, a change in clothing is encouraged before/after the meeting has been completed.
    • Distracting and revealing clothing is not appropriate in the workplace as you are the role model.
    • Safety requirements must be met at all times. Attire that may be hazardous in the working situation should not be worn include: open toe shoe, backless shoes, sandals with back straps which can easily be broken during stress and/or high heels, hoop jewelry larger than a dime and/or earrings which dangle and necklaces. Long hair should be secured if working where Tl could be needed.
    • In questionable situations, the final decision as to what is appropriate appearance/attire is the responsibility of each supervisor.
    • If clothing is not appropriate, supervisor may ask the employee to go home and change, if necessary. Repeat occurrences of failure to comply with dress code will be reflected on your job performances.
